Whitmore is our vegetarian, quiet & private home in the valley of the Lune River countryside, set amidst rolling fields with splendid views. Situated 0.25 miles from the old village of Hornby with its castle by the Lune River. We offer 1 twin bedroom & 1 single bedroom with one bathroom serving as an en-suite in an annex within the house. We welcome walkers and cyclists.

Breakfast is generous and we do try to supply you with whatever you require, gluten free for example, if advance notice is given.
Whitmore was built to our own design in 1995 using recycled sandstone from an old barn. Inside you'll find Welsh oak flooring, beams and staircase, underfloor heating, log burner and lime washed painted walls. Local artists display their art in our large hall, their art is for sale.
Whitmore is set up for those who wish to relax and unwind during their visit. Outside there are the secluded 3 acre grounds well planted with trees, wildlife pond, organic kitchen garden plus our newly planted orchard.
There are many attractions to experience in the valley of the Lune River. A popular salmon river with fishing clubs, often visited by otters, kingfishers, herons, many species of ducks and geese, in fact a multitude of varied wild life.
Our local mountains, The Three Peaks–Ingleborough, Pen-y-ghent and Whernside are challenges for walkers and runners, all with stunning views on clear days. Bank Holidays will give you the opportunity to be lowered down the famous Gaping Gill, 330 feet into the dark depths of a voluminous limestone cavern; for the brave only.
Explore the Silverdale, Arnside, Redmayne area quiet lanes, plenty of interesting footpaths plus the Leighton Moss Nature Reserve only 10 miles from Whitmore. The villages of Wray and Claughton offer nearby pubs and restaurants.
